ON NEWSSTANDS NOW: Southern Living is and always has been the magazine that southerners look to for ideas in food, gardens, vacations and everything “southern”. I’ve often contributed to them the past 20 years with small projects here in Kentucky ranging from my small Derby Party, to Christmas Decorations, to simple ideas for the garden. However, they’ve never done a story on my family’s property until now. WOW! Not only is the story written in such a fresh and interesting perspective by the Grumpy Gardener himself, Steve Bender, but the photography is beyond idyllic. Ralph Anderson was up for several days at the crack of dawn, getting the morning light that we know so well down on the Rockcastle River. Come down to see for yourself how tranquil and lush our property is in the summer. My parents bought this little piece of property in 1955 and when you visit, you will receive old-school southern hospitality from Momma, my sister Betsy and my brother Buzz. Plus, all the dogs are pretty happy to see you as well! NOTE: Don’t use GPS until we get them to fix the problem that sends you WAY off the beaten path. Take I-75 to Exit 49, go to bottom of hill, make a left and we are 1 mile on the right, as soon as you cross the Rockcastle River. See you there!
