AntiquesGardenShow

February 7 – 9, 2014

No home is complete without antiques and the garden. And at the Antique & Garden Show of Nashville, we were treated to both in a grand way. The limestone planters from our friends at Longshadow Garden Ornaments filled with parrot tulips were an amazing first impression at the entrance to the show. Inside were hundreds of antique dealers from around the world, with four amazing garden installations as backdrops, a welcome contrast to the winter weather outdoors.

“Bourbon + Fabulous Food + Gardens = Modern Living”: the title to our opening Friday night event was spot on.  This event was SOLD OUT to 300+ people who understand the importance of food & drink, gardens, and entertainment in their lives.

Bourbon cocktail recipes (The Bourbon Sidecar, Jack Manhatton, and New-Fashion Old-Fashion) from Canal House’s Christopher Hirsheimer and Melissa Hamilton made from Brown-Foreman bourbons and garnished from our personal living herb displays (www.joncarloftis.com, technology by Sage Vertical Gardens, frames by Longwood Antique Woods) got this party started off right.

Fabulous food was prepared from Canal House food recipes. Try their fried chicken and watermelon pickle combo. You will thank us.

The ‘bourbon tasting’ started with a short story of its origin by Jon Carloftis. Newcomer to our entertainment line-up, Adam Johnson from the Kentucky Distillers Association, took it from there treating the crowd to tastings of Old Forester, Jack Daniels, Woodford Reserve, and Woodford Reserve Double Oak. Centerpieces of each of the six tasting tables were created from the beautiful flowers and shrubs from Proven Winners, our partner in making gardens more beautiful, more sustainable.

“The FINER THINGS IN LIFE: A lecture on gardens, lifestyles and entertainment”, took place on Sunday. I was thrilled to introduce 200 people to my talented and wonderful Bucks County, PA neighbors, Christopher and Melissa.  When it comes to cooking, these gals know how to entertain beautifully, deliciously, stylishly. And it is my good fortune that I live right next door.

And to Vee Vee Scott and Mindy Jacoway, Jon Carloftis Fine Gardens would like to THANK YOU for including us at the 2014 Nashville Antique & Garden Show. And again to Vee Vee and her husband for two seats at the dinner table for fine dining (at Rolf & Daughters) with new friends.  Cheers!
